COMMENTARY: NOBODY
DIES ALONE Dr.
Elisabeth Kübler-Ross spent most of her professional
life studying death and dying and had some reassuring
words for those who are unable to be with their loved
ones as they transition.
In her book On Death and Dying, she writes: "It
is impossible to die alone. This also includes someone
who dies of thirst in a desert hundreds of miles from
the next human being, or an astronaut missing the target
and circling around in the universe until he dies of lack
of oxygen... we will always be met by those who preceded
us in death and whom we have loved. This could be a child
we lost, perhaps decades earlier, or a grandmother, a
father, a mother, or another person who has been significant
in our lives".
This is something that has been verified by many years
of observation of dying patients in hospital settings.
Dr. Kübler-Ross also claims that immediately before
and after transition, the soul of the dying is free to
travel to be with his/her loved ones. There are many reports
of people who were on the other side of the world seeing or feeling
their loved ones come close to them at the time of
their transition.
So while it is natural for
relatives to want to be physically with the person who
is dying, there is absolutely no reason to feel guilty
if this is prevented by circumstances beyond your control.
Mediums are unanimous that they have never had a spirit
come through who complained about their loved one not
being with them when they died.
