COMMENTARY: THESE HOLIDAYS MAY SEEM DIFFERENT If you are having difficulty getting into the excitement of familiar traditions this year, know that you are not alone. It has been a year of loss for many - changes in economic circumstances, health, and family members separated. Many have had loved ones transition and all of us have been forced to face uncertainty and the end of "life as usual". Many are saying that we are also experiencing the beginning of "a great awakening" ( the topic of next Sunday's Global Gathering).
So how can we best support ourselves and our loved ones at this time of great change? All our spiritual teachers tell us that it is really important that we do all that we can to stay on a high vibrational level and avoid negativity, whether it be from the media or from people with strong opinions who want to argue or criticise. They suggest that this is a great time to spend time on self-care (see "How to Raise Your Emotional and Spiritual Vibration").
By focusing on mindfulness and the emotions of appreciation, gratitude, compassion, forgiveness and love we will be much happier and more productive and a source of light and hope for others.
NEAR-DEATH EXPERIENCE OF ELLEN WHELTON Ellen Whelton is a board-certified music therapist and energy healer with an MA in Transpersonal Counseling from Naropa University.
