THE ETERNAL MIND & BRAIN DEBATE
All the afterlife evidence shows that the mind is separate from the brain. The brain is physical and dies when our physical body dies. The mind survives physical death with all memories, emotions and feelings. My presentation of the afterlife evidence shows in very clear terms that the MIND survives. Materialists don’t agree that we have a separate brain and a mind. To them the brain and the mind are the one thing.


AFTER-DEATH CONTACTS AND HALLOWEEN
Looking at the way people in the West celebrate Halloween it is very clear that there is still a lot of work to do in terms of educating people about after-death contacts. A number of Halloween stories of so-called “ghosts” are clearly normal garden variety After-Death Contacts.

HOW DO OUR LOVED ONES CONTACT US?
“An After-Death Communication (ADC) is a spiritual experience, which occurs when you are contacted directly and spontaneously by a deceased family member or friend, without the use of psychics, mediums, rituals, or devices of any kind. It's estimated that 60-120 million Americans - 20-40% of the population of the United States - have had one or more ADC experiences.”

AFTER DEATH CONTACT STORIES
Instead of "ghost stories" we should encourage our family members to read and talk about after death contacts. Drs Jeff and Jody Long who run the After Death Communication Research Foundation have more than 700 of them submitted by readers on their homepage.
From experience if you get a group of 20 people together you, provide a relaxed and trusting setting, you will find at least 30% of them have vivid contact experiences that they want to share.


HALLOWEEN GHOSTS EARTHBOUND
Michael Tymn has an interesting post on his blog this week. He writes: “In the Halloween tradition, a ghost seems to be more of an “earthbound” spirit, or a spook, if you will. … “The duration of the state of confusion that follows death varies greatly,” explained Allan Kardec, the pioneering French psychical investigator of the 19th Century, in The Spirits' Book. “It may be only a few hours, and it may be several months, or even years. Those with whom it lasts the least are they who, during the earthly life, have identified themselves most closely with their future state, because they are soonest able to understand their new situation.”


GHOSTS IN CHINESE CULTURE
Apart from the money to be made and the fun to be had, Halloween's celebration of the afterlife appeals to Asians' deeper relationship with the supernatural, said Hong Kong-based cultural commentator Nury Vittachi. "Ghosts are very big in Asian culture and there is a deeper understanding and interest in their place in society," Vittachi said. "You can have a relationship with them, you can make friends with them. In the West, ghosts are nearly always bad things, but here they are on your side.” Read more…

THEY COME IN DREAMS
Many people write to me saying they have had extremely vivid dreams of their loved ones after they died, always looking much younger and healthier. And unlike normal dreams these dreams stay extremely vivid even years later. Now a most interesting online survey of over 10,000 people conducted by beliefnet.com.shows that dreams of our deceased loved ones are the most common means of contact, experienced by about 80% of people. The survey breaks down perceived after-death contacts and experience of the paranormal according to belief and non-belief.

CHRISTIANS AHEAD IN AFTERLIFE BELIEF
The survey also shows that whereas 65% of Christians believe that the souls of the dead more on to an eternal afterlife this belief is shared by only 3.3% of Buddhists, 21% of Hindus, 30% of Jews and 45% of Muslims. Read the full results of the survey.


THE DALAI LAMA'S MEDIUM
Did you know that the Dalai Lama has his own trance medium called the "Nechung Oracle"? The oracle goes into trance and is taken over by a spirit or "diety" who moves with great energy and gives advice and healing. In his autobiography, Freedom in Exile, His Holiness the Dalai Lama writes that he has never known the oracle to be wrong.

GHOST WHISPERER
A very popular television program which is doing a great deal to educate people about the problems some people have when crossing over is Ghost Whisperer based on the work of mediums James Van Praagh and Mary Ann Winkowski. The show has a very interesting website and the question and answer section run by medium Mary Ann Winkowski has a number of excellent answers on after death contacts.

GRIEF SUPPORT
The upcoming holiday season can be a difficult time for those grieving the loss of a loved one. Many people write to me asking how they can best contact their crossed over loved ones and whether they should visit a medium. My strong suggestion is to join a grief support group like griefshare or griefnet
and work through the normal stages of your grief. Even mediums and others who know full well that their loved ones continue in another dimension still have to go through the normal grieving process.

GRIEF AND PETS
For many people pets become important family members and their loss is as painful as losing any other family member. Our experience in materialization séances is that animals do survive death and will be waiting for us when we cross over. During one of David Thompson's recent materialization seances a beloved dog was materialized and recognised by his owner. He was heard to bark in the locked and closed room four times. The tape will soon be available.

A reader writes: “I was able to attend a seminar given by Eckhart Tolle in September at Westminster City Hall and was staggered to see around 2000 people there, many who had come from as far as the USA and Japan.
