ARE YOU A SPIRITUALIST? For some people Spiritualism is a science, for some, it's a philosophy, and for others, it's a religion as well. Its core beliefs, as expressed in the 7 guiding principles of Spiritualism, are a challenge to atheism as they recognise the existence of an all-intelligent creating force.
Spiritualism teaches that there is life after death but rejects the idea that we merge into formlessness. On the basis of evidence from years of spirit contact, Spiritualists have concluded that we retain the same personalities and characteristics, and we change only as a result of our own efforts. It rejects the concept of
an eternal hell, saying instead that "eternal progress is open to every human soul".
A key part of Spiritualist science is that there exists evidence that communication with departed spirits can, and does, take place. Early Spiritualists called this "The Communion of Spirits and the Ministry of Angels".
Having Spiritualism formally recognised as a religion has been important in some contexts as it offers legal and social protection for the practice of mediumship and spiritual healing.
At a time before the Internet and New Age bookshops, Spiritualist churches and newspapers were one of the few places where people could learn about the philosophy and science of Spiritualism and spiritual healing. Having a place where people could come together physically to demonstrate and develop mediumship and share experiences of the afterlife has been very important to many. A RATIONAL BELIEF IN THE AFTERLIFE Piero Calvi-Parisetti M.D. is a medical doctor originally specialising in Public Health and Disaster Management. He has worked extensively for the International Red Cross and the United Nations and was later a university lecturer for 17 years. In 2004, a simple anecdote narrated by his wife triggered an intellectual interest, at first, and then a true scholarly passion for researching the scientific evidence for the afterlife.
TERMINAL LUCIDITY - EVIDENCE OF THE MIND SEPARATE FROM
Tsakiris interviews biologist Michael Nahm Ph.D. to discuss his
reports on patients who have brain damage but suddenly
experience brief periods of unexplainable lucidity immediately
before death. Many researchers feel that this is evidence
of the existence of a mind separate from the brain.
Alex Tsakiris makes the point that researchers need
to pay more attention to the experiences of nurses who
work with the dying who see frequently these and other nearing-death

FRENCH ANESTHESIOLOGIST TALKS ABOUT NEAR-DEATH EXPERIENCES "Although I was a scientist and a highly technical medical specialist, I finally admitted that death is only an obligatory passage to an unknown destination. Unfortunately, the truth about the afterlife is not obvious to everyone." Dr. Jean Jacques Charbonier has written several books about the afterlife, one of which, 7 Reasons to Believe in the Afterlife is available in English.
FROM WHITE CROW BOOKS - A NEW EDITION OF "LIFE ETERNAL" BY W.T. STEAD
William T. Stead was a famous British journalist who died on the Titanic in 1912. Soon after his transition, he made contact with his daughter Estelle through automatic writing. She published his description of his early experiences where he was taken to a reception station as The Blue Island, Experiences of a New Arrival Beyond the Veil. Estelle remained in contact with her father as he learned more about how the afterlife works, and in 1933 published Life Eternal which deals with her father's description of his conditions, how communication works, and what he had learned about reincarnation (see a full list of topics in the book preview). White Crow Books has just republished Life Eternal and Michael Tymn had made a summary of what Stead had to say.
UNDERSTANDING VETERANS' NEAR-DEATH EXPERIENCES Members of the armed forces who have a near-death experience as a result of their injuries often do not receive the care and support they need to process their NDE. Instead, many are told that they need psychiatric care. IANDS claims that the impact of this crucial gap of care is traumatizing, exacerbating the effects of already devastating injuries, as well as PTSD, and "magnifying feelings of confusion, fear, isolation and hopeless despair". A new video DVD, Understanding Veterans' Near-Death Experiences, is now on sale by IANDS. Read more.
A LIBRARY OF AFTER-DEATH CONTACT EXPERIENCESThe Windbridge Research Center
is creating collaborations between after-death communication (ADC) experiencers, researchers, mental health professionals, artists, and technologists. Together, these multidisciplinary teams are transforming submitted, written reports of ADCs into rich, multimedia (video, images, sound, music, and interactivity) exhibitions which will promote healing, and further normalize ADC experiences. The compiled library will be offered online to clinicians, researchers, and the general public as a free, open-access resource starting in June 2021.
A MEDICAL DOCTOR WHO RESEARCHED PHYSICAL MEDIUMSHIP
Dr. Thomas Glen Hamilton was a respected Canadian physician and member of the Manitoba legislature who began to research the afterlife following the death of his three-year-old son from the Spanish Flu in 1919. The family’s first medium was their Scottish nanny, Elizabeth Poole. She started by using the Ouija board but moved on to table tipping, where a table would stop tipping when the “correct” letter was pronounced aloud. This led to investigations into telekinesis, or the movement of physical objects through mental exertions. Later she introduced the family to her sister-in-law, Mary Ann Marshall, (1880-1963) who was an ectoplasmic physical medium able to produce materialised hands.
Dr. Hamilton devised a way to make wax casts of spirit fingerprints. More next week.

VIDEO, IMAGES, AND VOICES OF THE SPIRIT WORLD Since about 1980 psychic researchers have claimed that people who have died have made contact via radio, over telephones, on television, on answering and fax machines, and on computers. This kind of communication is called ITC or Instrumental Trans-communication. Alberto Oyarvide has put together some of the best-known clips from various researchers. Learn more about these amazing contacts which reveal a world as real and solid as this one
on Mark Macy's websites World ITC and The Beacon.
WHAT DOES OUR SPIRIT BODY DO WHEN WE GO TO SLEEP? Various sources tell us that as
the body does not need the spirit when the body sleeps,
the spirit is freed to roam and travel the afterlife
dimension to catch up with loved ones. Sometimes the
spirits of those who are highly motivated to evolve do work while their bodies are asleep.
PRE-BIRTH COMMUNICATION Sarah and Brent Hinze have spent 20 years collecting reports from parents who have seen or sensed a child before it is born, in some cases even before the child is conceived. Sometimes the contact takes place during a near-death experience. See Website. At 48 minutes Sarah talks about one of her children who said he was given permission to die before he was born. He claimed that he only needed a short incarnation and if he left after a couple of months it would have caused much greater heartache.
Our guest next Sunday will be Shelia Lowe who will be talking about how the tragic death of her daughter, Jennifer, led Sheila to investigate the spirit world. She will share some of the experiences she has had with Jennifer over the last 20 years. Sheila is a handwriting expert and has written several best-selling books about the subject, as well as the Claudia Rose Forensic Handwriting mystery series. Recently she has begun a series of books about the afterlife with the help of her daughter in spirit. The first is Proof of Life.
Sheila leads a zoom group on Automatic Writing and Mediumship Discussion on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday night of the month.
It will be a combination of a presentation of some aspects of Spiritualism and spirituality followed by open discussion. If you have questions about Spiritualism or spirituality or religion, bring them here. Sundays, beginning

1) "Thank you so much for your labors putting out your weekly newsletter all these years. I look forward every week to Thursday evening (EST) to see it in my email inbox, and anticipating opening it to discover the amazing and wonderful information - articles, videos, and links - you manage to bring to all of us. It brightens my entire week until the next one comes! Best wishes to you always, and many thanks again!" Reynolds.
2) "Just wanted to tell you how much I enjoyed all the news you brought us this week! I especially liked the piece on Dolores Cannon, Michael Newton and the Jail Dogs! Dolores started Quantum Healing Hypnosis Technique and I am a QHHT Practitioner. I believe our prison systems need to take a different approach to rehabilitation and I hope to use my Past Life Regression training to turn lives around and reduce recidivism. Thank you for the work you do!" Liz
3) "I get lost in one or more offerings every week. This week it was the piece on Anthony Flew. The book he wrote at 84 (!) took me back to my M.A. in Philosophy. I remember reading works by Flew and many others mentioned in the book's introduction; I got so lost in reading this intro I ended up buying the book. I had known Flew had become a Deist, but was unaware of the fascinating discourse surrounding that. I can tell the book will give me a better understanding of trends in atheism and theism since my M.A. in 1962, and I am so very grateful for that. Deepest thanks to you both for your tireless service!!" Analise.
