COMMENTARY: WHAT'S IT LIKE TO CROSS OVER? Many subscribers ask "What am I likely to see?" "Where will I go?" "How am I going to feel?" "What can I do to prepare myself for the precious moments when I cross over into the spirit?" It is good that people ask these questions - the more they ask the more they get to know. It is most critical to adopt a positive and curious attitude: expect the best.
If you are conscious toward the end, you will be aware of friends and loved ones gathering around you. You will be met by the person you feel closest to - often a mother, a grandparent, or a partner. Neil Armstrong was met by his daughter who had died as a baby. Robin Williams says he was met by his friend Christopher Reeve and his wife Dana. George Wilmot, who had no close family relationships, was met by his horse, Jenny. Children often describe being met by a "beautiful lady". And sometimes dying people will have a glimpse of paradise and begin to hear beautiful music.
Many people who have been ill for a long time and are not conscious at the time of transition describe waking up in a beautiful hospital-like setting in one of the many "reception areas" specifically designed for new arrivals. They report seeing people moving around that they think are nurses and they are surprised at how well they feel.
When the spirit-etheric body slips out of the physical body (usually from the top of the head) all pain will be gone. Your body will feel light but solid. You will feel in perfect health, with all your memories and the same level of character you had just before your physical body died.

SOME REFLECTIONS ABOUT A COMA
Usually, those who witness a loved one in a state of coma find the reason
for this prolonged unconsciousness beyond their understanding.
Sometimes the patient is just clinging with extraordinary tenacity to life on
earth, but there can be other reasons, as the Universal Spiritual Brother
& Sisterhood (USB) explains. By remaining for a time in a coma, that
person may be paying off a karmic debt. They may also be acquiring
experience they need, the experience of being cared for, or offering others
the experience of caring for another.
The USB stresses that even in those cases of
coma where the brain is damaged beyond
repair, their mind has not disappeared: “We
can liken one’s mind to a musician, and one’s
brain to an instrument the musician plays. If a
vital part of that instrument is impaired, the
musician can no longer use it satisfactorily, if at
all; but the individual still exists, still retaining the same skills, though for a
time unable to employ them exactly as preferred” (Spiritual Light,
published by USB Vision Press).
COMPASSION IN ACTION It's well-known that caring for a child (or an adult) with a disability
can put great stress on family members. And sometimes those family members rise magnificently to the challenge, developing wonderful spiritual qualities. Mireya's family want others to know that their life may be different, but it is still beautiful.
