THE MAGIC OF PHYSICAL MEDIUMSHIP
When spirit people use a medium to produce phenomena that can be seen, heard, or felt by everyone present, the medium is called a physical medium. The kinds of phenomena produced can include bangs and raps, moving objects with no apparent cause, levitating tables and other objects, causing objects to dematerialize and reappear elsewhere (apports) influencing scientific instruments without touching them, producing whispered voices and materialized hands, and dozens of other "paranormal" effects.
The most developed and rare kind of physical mediumship is when people in the spirit world use the energy of the medium to partially or fully materialize people and animals. Sometimes they show themselves over the face of the medium (tranfiguration) or speak in their own voices (direct voice).
Physical mediumship is incredibly rare these days, partly because of the pace of life. It takes enormous time and discipline to develop and is usually practised quietly in home circles. Many people have either never heard of it, think it was all fraud, or believe that it died out in the 1920s.
But it still exists. The records left by the incredibly qualified scientists and professionals who investigated it say clearly that it provides stunning proof of the afterlife. NEW VERSION OF THE BOOK ABOUT RUSSELL In 1994 Gwen Byrne wrote a book about her experiences when her son Russell materialised. Now Karl Jackson Barnes has put out a new edition of that book titledRussell: the boy who came back from the dead. This edition has a new cover design, more detail in the text, a better layout, and over 50 photographs - many previously unpublished, including a spirit portrait drawn by medium Frank Leah. This new edition will help lots of grieving parents, just as Gwen's original book did.
ARTHUR FINDLAY'S EXPERIENCES OF DIRECT VOICE MEDIUMSHIP
Many people are not aware that the Arthur Findlay College was founded because of Findlay's experiences with a physical medium, John Campbell Sloan.
FASCINATING EXPERIENCES WITH MATERIALISATION In this article from the Theosophical Society's 'Journal of Religion and Psychical Research' Volume 11, No 2, April 1988, Mr. John R. Crowley talks about his experiences in a seance with physical medium Rev. Warren Smith in New York in 1947. He claims that William James, the first educator to offer a psychology course in the USA, materialised and told the sitters that he was working with a group of 42 college students and their two professors who had died in a plane crash. "Now", he said, "Would you like to meet one of the students who, as you call it, 'died' in the plane crash, and has been a part of our experiment?" Naturally, we said "Yes!" and a young man materialized and stood next to him. We talked with him and were struck by his total normality...no evidence of trauma to heart or mind caused by his sudden death." EXPERIENCES OF PHYSICAL PHENOMENA IN A HOME CIRCLE IN PONTEFRACT
Ann Harrison describes phenomena that developed in the three years that she sat with Janet and Peter Poppleton in the early 2000s. Spirit Search and Rescue The Spirit Search and Rescue group is held on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of the month at 3 p.m. Eastern U.Ss time

The group follows the technique of conscious meditation to connect and assist souls needing help to complete their crossing over following death of the physical body. Each session contains an introduction, a period of around 15 minutes for conscious meditation and then a de-brief session.
