COMMENTARY: A MILESTONE EVENT NOT TO BE MISSED Whether we like it or not, many people
give undue authority to scientists and academics, even when they are speaking about things outside of their area of specialised knowledge. So, for many years scientists and academics who have done no research in the area of consciousness studies have been ridiculing the work of those who have, portraying them as having no scientific credibility and refusing to publish their research.

In the last few years, several organisations have begun creating safe places for the exchange of open-minded science. Now four of them, the Academy for the Advancement of Postmaterialist Sciences, the Scientific and Medical Network, The Galileo Commission, and the Institute of Noetic Sciences, have combined to launch a wonderful book.

Called Spiritual Awakenings: Scientists and Academics Share Their Experiences, it is edited by Marjorie Woollacott Ph.D., and David Lorimer. The book collects 57 scholars’ accounts of spiritual awakening, and their subsequent transformations resulting from profound shifts in consciousness – including ways that their newfound way of perceiving the world may have affected their career or credibility within academia.

To launch the book and to support these scientists there will be an online event on Saturday, September 3rd and Sunday, September 4th U.K. time. From 4:00–8:30 p.m. on both days London time 22 scientists and academics will each speak for 7-10 minutes to describe their intitial experience(s), the shifts in their world view and subsequent influences on both their personal behaviour and professional life.

This event is donation-based, and you may register for free, if you are not able to make a donation. All bookings will receive a link to view the RECORDING so people outside the time zone can still participate. Read details of the event.



REMEMBERING MARCELLO BACCI
Before he left this life in July 2019, Marcello Bacci worked for 40 years to connect people to their loved ones through his shortwave radio using a type of instrumental transcommunication known as 'Direct Radio Voice.'



He began experimenting with EVP (spirit voices on tape) after learning of the work of Friedrich Jurgenson and was told by spirit to try tuning on his old 1940s valve radio and moving the dial between white noise frequencies in the short wave band. Eventually, clear voices could be heard which answered questions.

For many years, he held sessions on Friday nights where parents could come and talk directly to their deceased sons or daughters. Bacci made his work available to all visitors for free and his work was studied many times by the leading researchers in ITC with carefully controlled experiments. Physicist Prof. Salvatore Mario Festa worked with Bacci analyzing the voices every week for six years. Independent researchers including Professor Ernst Senkowski, Daniele Gullà, Dr. Marabini and Paolo Presi investigated the voices and analyzed them using the most sophisticated electronic equipment.

THE DOUGLAS CONACHER TAPES
Douglas and Eira Conacher were a devoted married couple with a publishing business in Central London. They were determined that whoever died first would try to contact the other from the afterlife. Douglas, 20 years older than Eira, died on June 6, 1958. A few months later, Douglas contacted Eira through direct voice medium Leslie Flint. They carried on regular conversations over the next few years and authored two books together about the spirit world with both their names on the cover (see next item). Douglas tells Eira about the infinite possibilities that we can experience as we move further away from material conditions.



"THERE IS LIFE AFTER DEATH"
Douglas Conacher described his life beyond the grave. He talked about the existence of hospitals, reception areas, the conditions of newly arrived souls, architecture, and the effect that mind has on colors that are used for architecture. He says that souls need to eat in the lower spheres but as they progress they find food is no longer necessary. Qualifications are required to be a teacher, just as on Earth. The way of life reflects life on Earth until one gradually becomes more developed and moves toward higher spheres. There is gardening in the afterlife and flowers grow as high as trees. People sow, plant, and reap in natural soil. He describes the extraordinary colors, perfumes, and the auras of flowers. Read more about skills and interests in the afterlife.



LINDA JACQUIN'S EMPATHIC NEAR-DEATH EXPERIENCE There are frequent reports of people accompanying a loved one on the first stage of their afterlife journey. PMH Atwater writes: "The ability to co-participate in another's death usually happens in one of three ways: by accident, by being open and receptive to the opportunity, or on purpose, with the individual willfully projecting his or her awareness into the situation." These shared-death experiences are further evidence that the experience is not created by "the dying brain".





AFTER DEATH CONTACTS HAVE HAPPENED SINCE THE BEGINNING OF HUMAN EXISTENCE ADCs are one of the main reasons that people in all cultures have believed that there is an afterlife. They have been studied scientifically since 1882 when a survey was begun in England. Altogether 32,000 cases were recorded: 17,000 in English. It was published as the "Census of Hallucinations" (showing the scientific prejudice of the time) in Volume X of the Society for Psychical Research Proceedings (1894). This was an astonishing number of responses pre-Internet. Further studies were carried out by the American Society for Psychical Research and by the French researcher Camille Flammarion who compiled thousands of cases in his books The Unknown (1900) and Death and Its Mystery (1925).



LOVED ONES IN SPIRIT INTERVENE TO HELP IN TIMES OF CRISIS There are many reports of people in spirit being able to intervene to warn loved ones of danger or even help them escape from a difficult situation.
